CONGRATS Sara Renner !

A bronze medal for Sara Renner in todays classic Sprints ! The World Cup competition in Canmore, AB is the final race before the Olympic Games -what more can we ask for - a Canadian on the podium !

Here in WOP, preparations progressed well today. The weather was excellent: -5 degrees overnight set-up the race course, and spectator walk-ways really well. Music was playing in the stadium as more athletes tested out the race trails. The conditions were fast, and sharp downhill corners, such as 'Downhiller's Dream' on the blue course gave some a shock. I was marshalling at the bottom, and often heard yelp's of surprise as skiers came screaming around the final turn often on one ski. This will be a short entry, as I too had little sleep last night, joining Dirk, Jody and Brett on the mid-night shift in the groomers. And then a full day on course as a marshal. This would probably be my only chance to experience the race courses, and get to sit next to my hubby while on the job...before security won't allow this kind of frivolty. I sat in the passenger seat of the PB 100 which is ideal for the smaller spectator walk-ways that connect to the more remote but exciting areas of the race trails. The majority of time was spent in the fancy high-tech PB 400 where Dirk and Brett circled behind each other - 3times each around the red and blue trails to perfect those tracks. It gave me quite a different point of view.

  1. Claudia,
Any chance of getting some pictures or a video of one of those screaming downhill turns for those of us poor sods who can't be there?
