Proud to be Canadian

Hope you watched the Opening Ceremonies last night and felt proud to be Canadian ! No one says it better than Shane Koyczan in his poetry slam..."We are More" - here on u-tube: http://www.youtube.co/watch?v=zsq68qRexFc - he shares his words with us.
The vibes in Vancouver are crazy...everyone is wearing something red or white with Canada on it, flags flying off cars, balconies and tatoo'd on cheeks. Katrina skyped us from Australia saying she was about to join her fellow slalomites to huddle over a laptop to catch the feed in their Team compound outside Penrith at the Sydney Olympic whitewater course.
Back in Whistler, Dirk and I walked into the Village, met up with Doug Edgerton, the owner of Yellowstone Tracksetting Systems who's been a great resource - he was chief of grooming in the Salt Lake Olympics - for a beer and a plate of raclette on the patio of Swiss Haus off one of the squares. The TV feed came to us in German. Just after the Canadian athletes entered BC Place in down town Vancouver, a gaggle of 65 athletes that chose to stay in Whistler came parading right by us escorted by well-clad Royal Canadian Mounted police.

A very emotional moment.
