Opening Ceremonies

Tomorrow, please take the moment to watch the Opening Ceremonies for the XXI Winter Olympic Games.
That we "Volunteers" were given the opportunity to view the official rehearsal last night was an incredible experience. Everyone I've spoken to since was overwhelmed with how Canadian the show was, and how amazing our country is. The diversity in cultures, land and seasons are so well celebrated with beauty and technological ability - but the best part in my mind was the absence of Hollywood glitz. Instead real ingenuity, talent and Canadian un-presumptuousness. The acoustics in BC Place are outstanding...which only added to the aura of musical talent across the country. And for stadium ticket holders, they become part of the show...receiving a box of 'goodies' that help make it an interactive experience beyond expectations. At times my tears of pride were trickling down my face...a small suggestion is to have a hankie close-by !

  1. Hi Claudia and Dirk,

Thanks for the heads up on the ceremonies, I usually skip the boring theatrics but this was excellent. I wouldn't have watched except for your recommendation.

Dirk, good luck getting the course ready and salted, you'll have to explain that process!
